The Simpsons Movie

Needless to say I am pretty excited about seeing this movie. As a fan of the show since it’s first episode, which I watched at Greg Nelson’s house back in 1989, I am excited to see if it will be as entertaining as any of the episodes.

I only wish they could have done the movie before Phil Hartman’s death. I miss Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. My favorite Hutz line has to be:

Hutz: Uh, oh we’ve drawn Judge Snyder.
Marge: Is that bad?
Hutz: Well he’s had it in for me ever since I kinda ran over his dog… Well, replace the word “kinda” with the word “repeatedly,” and the word “dog” with “son.”.

My favorite episode, hmm, that’s a tough one, it may have to be the Shary Bobbins episode, “Simpsoncalifragilisticexpialad’ohcious.” The episode is just so silly, and then ends on such an odd note, with Shary being sucked into the jet engine.

Let me know what some of your favorite Simpsons moments have been, and enjoy these lyrics from the Bloodhound Gang song “Ralph Wiggum.”

  1. If you don’t know the melody to that song, those lyrics appear really arbitrary and nonsensical. I know that probably seems fitting given the source, but its apparent random nature extends even beyond the warped innocence dwelling inside the psyche of the wee Wiggum.

    Great song though.

  2. Haha, yeah it does look very strange that way. I was going to try and put the song up, but figured no one would listen to it.

I remember the first time I heard the song, I did not know what the title was, it was in my car and I just bought the album. After a few seconds I was like, is this all Ralph Wiggum quotes? the “I pick Ken Griffey Jr.” and “Chocolate microscopes” really gave it away.

  3. My favorite Simpsons moment is and always will be the scene in “Cape Feare” when Homer was given his new identity. The entire scene is classic, but the part where they try to convince him his new name is Homer Thompson may be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on tv.

Other classics are when Homer is being interviewed by the new German nuclear power plan owner’s and they mention that they are from the land of chocolate.

Or, the entire episode of “Marge’s Fear of Flying.” There’s hardly a moment that isn’t hilarious.

I could go on and on, but I’ll just say, I have grown tired of the Simpsons because the jokes just aren’t as smart as they used to be, not even close. Now they are just easy Homer is stupid jokes, but the movie shows promise in the commercials. When I first saw the Spiderpig thing on tv I laughed out loud, which I don’t do much anymore to that show. So, enjoy the movie, I hope I get to see it at some point (still haven’t even seen Borat).

  4. Offord…another great moment in that episode (i think it’s the cape feare ep) is when Sideshow Bob steps on the rakes. At first you giggle, cuz it’s dumb humor, then you get annoyed that they are still pushing the joke, then it just gets ridiculous and you can’t help laughing.

Family Guy uses that alot, like the Peter hurting his knee bit…

  5. Yea and when Stewie is making fun of Brian for trying to be a novelist.

That is from Cape Feare, undoubtedly one of the best episodes (probably better than the actual movie…).
