The Foundation Trilogy

I bought the Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov audiobook recently.  It was fairly short and I was able to listen to it in less than four days.  I think it was pretty good.  It was hard to tell though because the production was a very old BBC recording of the book.  It actually has a full cast of voice actors and is more like a show than a book.  Also, the quality of the recording was absolutely horrible.  I had the volume up the entire way and could barely understand what was happening.

Aside from those minor complaints, the actual story was pretty good.  It was a little bit simplistic, but still kind of cool.  The gist of it is that the galactic empire is going to fall apart soon and through psychohistory, which basically combines math with psychology and other social sciences to predict the future, one man is able to set up a plan on how to save everything.

Yeah, I realize that was the most simple explanation of the series ever.  I actually wish I had just read it.  I saw it at Barnes & Noble, and it is not very big.  I have a feeling that many people reading it nowadays would think it a little dated.  It is supposed to be set tens of thousands of years in the future, but most of the technology is very simplistic.

If you have read the book, what did you think of it?
