TV Show Stuff

I figured I would write about some of the shows that I have been watching so far this season.  You know, some initial thoughts and reactions.  Unfortunately, I will not mention anything about Breaking Bad.  I want to wait until the series ends and then write about the ending.

Sons of Anarchy
Okay, I am not really digging this season.  I feel like the show is just trying to be as ridiculous as possible and getting into more crazy situations each episode.

Toric started off cool, as a revenge seeking ex-Marshall, but now he is getting a little insane.  Okay, maybe a little insane is being nice.  He is batshit crazy.  He used a couple of dude’s mouths as a bottle opener.  He also shot a hooker, on accident, but used that to frame Nero.  This is all in a few episodes.

Clay is still alive somehow.  And he did not give up the club to Toric.  He was sent to GenPop, but Pope’s man did not have him killed.  August and Jax worked out another deal.  I don’t know, it just seems so stupid.

The last episode ended with Tig probably dying.  Although, I do not think they are killing Tig yet.  Instead August will probably use him against Jax or something.  Who really knows.  The best part of this season has been Peter Weller’s line “Persia hasn’t been a country since 637 AD. They’re called Iranians.”

Do not get me started on the school shooting.  If you are going to do something like that, make it meaningful.  Maybe you take the club down a different route.  Instead, they just have to find a way to not be connected.  Just seems like a gimmick.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The gist of the pilot was that Agent Coulson is alive.  His reason for being alive is that Fury used his “death” to rally the Avengers.  He was only dead for like 40 seconds and was quickly resuscitated.  Once he leaves the room, Maria Hill and the doctor say something about him not actually knowing the truth.  This kind of secret will keep me watching for at least a season or two.

The only thing I did not like was the stiffness of the characters, which I figure is probably due to the fact that this was the pilot.  That usually happens with pilots (watch the first episode of House for a great example).

My biggest fear for this show is that they will go into a procedural format.  Each week the team will investigate some superhero thing and it will wrap up neatly at the end of the episode.  Please do not go that route.

Mad Men
I know what you are thinking:  Mad Men is not even on right now!  I know that, so calm yourself.  Instead, I want to ask if you have seen the Bank of America:  Portraits commercial?  If not, please take a minute and watch it:

Does that commercial remind you of the scene from the show where Don introduces the Carousel to the Kodak people?  I feel like it is.  Maybe I am crazy…

24
This has nothing to do with the show, but instead with Jack Bauer.  Or more precisely, Kiefer Sutherland and his Jose Cuervo commercials.

Does it really seem like a good idea to represent a liquor when you have been arrested for DUI and people think has a bit of a drinking problem?  Just kidding, I think it is awesome.  Of course Jack Bauer would do shots of tequila on his off days.  How else could he cope with his shitty (or amazing) life?
