Game of Thrones: Oathkeeper

Is this where the series finally splits away from the books?  I knew it would happen eventually, not just small little changes, but something big.  Could tonight be the beginning?  For those that do not read the books, you have no clue what I am talking about.  I suppose I should apologize for what comes next…

-Karl and the Mutineers are at Craster’s Keep and they capture Bran and Company.  Bran tells them who he is and Karl (who brags about being a great murderer in King’s Landing) sees his chance to become relevant.  Hodor is wounded.  What will happen next?

I predict that Cold Hands will show up and kill the Mutineers.  Jon and the Night’s Watch will show up and find all the dead, Jon will be reunited with Ghost and they will all assume it was the White Walkers.

Roose Bolton sends his man, Locke, up to the Wall in order to find out if Jon Snow is hiding Bran and Rickon.  Allow me to explain the other change.  Vargo Hoat was the guy in the book who cuts off Jaime’s hand, yet they cut him out of the show and just replaced him with Locke.  Not sure the real point of changing the character except to get him to the Wall (since Hoat had a very nasty ending).

My guess is that Jon will kill Locke.  Lost fans will laugh at that one…

-I always assumed the White Walkers just ate Craster’s babies.  I mean, that’s what I would do if I was some weird monster creature.  Baby is probably delicious.  Instead, they take the screaming kid to a stone altar and a White Walker (the HBO website says it is the Night’s King) touches his cheek causing the child’s eyes to turn blue like a White Walker.  Is this where babies come from?  I am confused…

-I guess the show figures that non-book folks cannot pick up on subtlety.  I do not remember Olenna ever coming out and telling Margaery that she poisoned Joffrey.  I did love her advice for how to win Tommen though.  Seducing a little kid and all it takes is a little pussy…SER POUNCE!  I crack myself up.

-Daenerys captures Meereen.  She does it the easy way.  Let the slaves rise up and kill the masters.  She shows them a little mercy and instead nailing them by both hands, she leaves one free, which I guess means they can maybe get out.  Or die horribly.  Whichever…

I just hope they do not ruin her story like the books.  Her time spent ruling was so boring and so much of it was about who she should marry, blah blah blah.  The only good part of all that was when she leaves with a dragon and runs into the Dothraki army that left Khal Drogo.  Yeah, that was how her story ended in the last book.  Let us hope they skip a bunch of the politics and whatnot…

-Littlefinger decides to get a little creepy with Sansa.  Those lingering hands on her shoulder.  You just know he is a creep.

-My favorite part of the episode was Brienne and Jaime.  He gives her the sword, she names it Oathkeeper and he gives her some new armor.  His final gift:  Pod.  Oh, and Bronn shows up to give Pod an ax.  They will have some great adventures together while searching for Sansa.
