What shows will I be watching this year? When will they premiere? These are probably the questions you are asking yourself right now. I have decided to give up on television this year, I will instead be listening to 19th century Swiss opera. Is that even believable? Probably not. Enough nonsense, on to the shows.
Boardwalk Empire
The final season of such a great show. I am confused as to why they are only doing eight episodes, but if it wraps everything up and gives the series a solid ending then I am okay with it. Something tells me that Nucky will not make it out alive. Or will we learn that he truly did become the power behind it all. This season takes place during the Great Depression in 1931, so I am guessing this will be the downfall of Al Capone, but also the rise of Lucky Luciano. It almost seems perfect that with all of this happening, Nucky could be the guy behind all of them. (HBO-September 7th, 9:00 p.m)
Sons of Anarchy
Last season ended with Gemma killing Tara and then when Sheriff Roosevelt walks in, Juice kills the sheriff. This is also the final season for this show and the previews show Jax and the Club being a bit out of control (as if the previous seasons were full of restraint). I do not know how Jax can make it through all of this alive, but I am guessing he does not die. It looks like this season will see SAMCRO embracing their outlaw ways and perhaps Jax going a bit out of control (because up until now he has been the definition of control). (FX-September 9th, 10:00 p.m.)
Gotham
This show has great potential. The rise of Gotham’s villains before Batman? Oh yeah, this could definitely be cool. Also, at first I hated the idea of Bruce Wayne being in this, but the more I think about it, this could be a cool way to show how he becomes Batman. I hope he does not have interactions each week with villains, but instead we see him making preparations for when he is older and can travel the world learning martial arts and other physical things. At a young age, he could learn detective skills (maybe that is the connection to Jim Gordon?) and dabble in forensics. (FOX-September 22nd, 8:00 p.m.)
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
I was not overly impressed with this show. It had some great moments, but way too much of it was just bad. The finale was at least good enough to keep my interest piqued. I look forward to discovering the identity of Skye’s father. Is he an alien? I hope he is Kree. (ABC-September 23rd, 9:00 p.m.)
The Flash
I used to watch the original Flash show when I was a kid and I loved it. Needless to say, I am excited for this show. The CW did a great job with Arrow and I am hoping they can continue things rolling with this one. Maybe my mom should watch it, since I just read that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will be playing Captain Cold & Heat Wave. My mom was a huge fan of Prison Break. (CW-October 7th, 8:00 p.m.)
Supernatural
Honestly, I can barely remember what happened last season. I think there was some kind of war with angels and in the end someone won. Oh wait, I think it ended with Dean becoming a demon because of the Mark of Cain. Something tells me that Sam will have to fight Dean, but will then try to find a way to save his brother, but in the end it will cost Sam his life. Next season will have Dean trying to find a way to save Sam. Does all of this seem familiar? Whatever, I will stick by this show. (CW-October 7th, 9:00 p.m.)
Arrow
I loved this show last season. I am pumped that Roy will become Arsenal. I am guessing we will learn more about Ollie’s past since the finale showed him washing up in Hong Kong and being approached by Amanda Waller. Also, something tells me Slade will escape his prison. And will Thea become bad under the influence of Malcolm? (CW-October 8th, 8:00 p.m.)
The Walking Dead
I liked where the last season went. The group all locked up inside of Terminus. Are they in trouble or will they eventually break out and take control of everything? Will Daryl eventually remember that Beth is missing? I hope he goes looking for her. I want another episode of them getting drunk together, that was pretty funny. (AMC-October 12th, 9:00 p.m.)
Constantine
I have yet to see any previews for this show. In fact, I barely heard anything about this one. If they keep it similar to the comic and just allow it to be dark, yet somewhat fun, I think it could be a success. Although, since they put it on Friday, I am guessing that NBC does not have much faith in it. (NBC-October 24th, 10:00 p.m.)
Mulaney
I will give this show a chance. As you know, I ranked John Mulaney pretty high on my list and it seems like this could have a Seinfeld feel to it, but I am not holding my breath. I will watch it for a few episodes. (FOX-Ocober 5th, 9:00 p.m.)
Scorpion
I keep seeing previews for this show and it does not look terrible. I may give it a shot. Then I realize that it is on CBS and most likely will be pretty average. Do I really want to go down that path? (CBS-September 22nd, 9:00 p.m.)
