2018 Fantasy Baseball Week 16

There was a time when it looked like Gideon was invincible. Now…well it seems the mighty has fallen. He lost to me. That has to sting. This was a week and a half matchup and there are some positives and negatives to look at here. Six wins, 109 strikeouts…good. One save? Zero stolen bases? Yikes.

KOW–Rockies Hitters–KOW

I can tell they had a bunch of home games. Charlie Blackmon hit .344 with a .432 on-base percentage. He scored five times, knocked in two, while blasting one home run. Carlos Gonzalez also hit .344 (.364 OBP), knocked in four, scored five times, and hit a home run. If I were smarter, I would rotate Rockies players in during home stands and out when they go on the road (or at least CarGo, Blackmon probably is fine without the splits).

Around the League

Sean 6 Matt 4
Lindsey 8 James 4
Offord 7 Ryan 4
Adam2 8 Dustin 4
Jason 8 Pat 1

Gideon picked a bad week to lose. Everyone ahead of him won big. Also, Offord continues his dominance over Ryan. I am pretty sure Offord has won every time they have faced each other since Offord won the championship two years ago.

Best Move of the Week

I pick up Nick Pivetta twice and he was not all that good. You may be wondering why I would consider him the best move of the week? Well, he had a 7.15 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP, what could he have possibly brought to the table? 21 strikeouts! If I did not pick him up one of the games, I would have lost the strikeouts. Because of his strong nine k’s in the first game, I decided to give him another shot. And he struck out twelve. How does that happen? How do you fan that many hitters, but also give up like six runs? Who allows a pitcher to stay in like that? Gabe Kapler apparently. Thanks Gabe!

The New Week

The only change in the standings is that Jason jumped ahead of Lindsey. He now holds second place by a half game over her. I am a game behind Sean for the final playoff spot. I feel like we are getting dangerously close to the playoffs. I need to step up my game. This week I take on Pat. Lindsey faces off with Sean (a little help from my loving wife would be great). Adam2 should continue his winning against Ryan, while Jason and Gideon square off in the probably the toughest matchup of the week. We also have Offord versus Dustin; and Matt vs. James.

Since Lindsey was a big winner, we get a song. Today we go back to Dazed and Confused. Here is Megadeth doing a cover of Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out.”
