Luke Cage Season 2

I just finished the second season and not to sound like a broken record…these Marvel Netflix series need to be like ten episodes. I thought the majority of the series was very good. However, it dragged on and the ending was not very satisfying. Spoilers I suppose…

What I Liked
-I really liked Bushmaster. His fights with Luke were cool. I also enjoyed that he was a villain, but one that we could empathize with, especially when we learn his backstory.
-I enjoyed the Danny Rand team-up episode.
-I loved the whole reconciliation with his father.
-I thought the Claire story was well done, I thought it really helped show the negatives to his strength coupled with his anger.
-Misty Knight got her new arm, courtesy of the Rand Corporation. I also loved her and Colleen’s bar fight.

What I Disliked
-Mariah…her character became even more ridiculous this season.
-Bushmaster just heads back to Jamaica. That was it? Imagine if Killmonger just went “eh, I tried, time to pack it up and head back to Oakland.”
-The Claire story was just left unfinished.
-They just introduce this new crime family at the end of the series, I think the Italian lady. Also, the “coffee=sex” jokes were way overused.
-Why does everyone assume that running Harlem’s Paradise will lead Luke to crime? It just seems so stupid.

I read one review that said this season could have eliminated the superhero stuff and you would still have a very entertaining show because of the characters. I think that is pretty true. Minus Mariah. I still think she is idiotic. Same with Shades. He had a few moments this season, but I could seriously do without him. The part where Luke’s dad tells him how much he loves him and they have their moment…that really got me.

Anyways, I think for next season they need a new kind of villain. I think it would be cool if he had to go up against gentrification. Maybe rich, white developers (or maybe Wilson Fisk…that would be cool).

  1. Crap. I need to stop reading these before I’m ready for spoilers. I’m like halfway through, and now I know there’s a Danny Rand teamupisode.
