2019 Fantasy Baseball Week 16

I believe we were tied going into Sunday and as you can see…my team did not step up to the challenge on the final day. I am not going to make excuses, okay maybe one: injuries suck. Not saying that is why I lost, but I keep losing guys to the IL and some of them are just short, minor injuries, but it sucks.

Fantasy Player of the Week
Even though my team lost, I wanted to point out the week that Stephen Strasburg had: 2 Wins, 17 Strikeouts, 0.69 ERA, 0.54 WHIP. Strasburg is quietly having a great season. He is obviously overshadowed by Scherzer, but also this year by Ryu in the National League. Most people probably do not realize that he is leading in wins (which is a very meaningful fantasy stat), but also top five in most other stats.

Around the League
Ryan 9 Offord 2
James 7 Lindsey 5
Gideon 6 Dustin 5
Sean 6 Jason 5
Matt 5 Pat 5

I thought Lindsey was going to pull out the win, she was ahead a good portion of the week. Minus Ryan’s win, everyone was fairly close this week.

Best Move
Everyone in the league is stupid. Okay, James is only half stupid. Ivan Nova was the second best pitcher this week. He pitched a complete game and picked up a win without giving up runs in his second start. James did stream him for that second win, but no one had him for the CG. Come on people, Ivan Nova against the Marlins? We all missed that one.

Also, Ryan will want me to talk about his trade with Sean (Kershaw for Arenado) and I honestly have zero opinion on it. I think it was a good trade for both parties. Good job!

The New Week
This week I take on Gideon. Lindsey faces Pat. The best matchup is Dustin and Adam2. James vs. Matt (easy win for James), Ryan vs. Sean (should be alright), Offord vs. Jason (could Offord pick up a win while not participating?)…

The standings have changed! Ryan is now in first, then James, me, Adam2, Dustin, Sean, Gideon, Lindsey, Pat, Jason, Matt, and Offord. At the moment Gideon is 2.5 games out from the playoffs and Lindsey is 9.0. Should be an interesting final six weeks. Fun fact: Lindsey faces her dear husband the final week of the year. Who thinks if she is close to the playoffs and I am locked in that I would let her win? HAHAHAHA, not a chance.
