Westworld Season 3 Trailer and a Batman Rant

The great thing about SDCC is all the trailers that come out. Westworld is probably one of my favorite shows to actually watch and then obsess over for a week. Aside from reading fan theories and different reviews, it is a great show for fun Facebook discussions.

I am excited that Aaron Paul is joining the cast. Although, I am already tired of the “I’m a robot, bitch!” jokes by the internet. We get it, he was in Breaking Bad and he liked to say bitch. He is a good actor and I look forward to however the show decides to use him.

Speaking of fans being idiotic over casting choices…

Awhile back it was announced that Robert Pattinson would be playing Batman in Matt Reeves film The Batman, which is supposed be more detective-centered and earlier in Batman’s career. Naturally fans took the news well.

Just kidding, they freaked out. Instantly the jokes came about Sparkly Batman or whatever other Twilight related takes the internet could muster. Some fans are already boycotting the film. What kind of stupidity is that?

First of all, Robert Pattinson did not create Twilight. He did not decide to make the vampires sparkle. He is an actor and it was a role. One of his first roles that helped him make a ton of money and get famous. Now he chooses smaller roles and movies that allow him to show his talents. And from what I have read (and of the few movies I saw), he is actually really good.

You would think the fans would learn their lesson. They freaked out over Michael Keaton being chosen as Batman. They had a breakdown that Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker (do people remember the angry fanboys screaming that Jack Nicholson was perfect and they should not even try to redo the character?). What about Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (oh my god, Tom Cruise is perfect for the character and he wants to do it!)? I think we can agree that fans are generally pretty stupid when it comes to this sort of thing.

My whole point here is that this is what actors do…they act. They pretend to be someone else. There are plenty of other examples of good actors being awful as certain characters. Try to reserve judgement until the movie comes out (or at least a trailer). Also, actors are not always going to be exactly like that one character you really loved in that one movie or show. Does that make sense, bitch?
