When Women Ruled the World

I finished Kara Cooney’s excellent book about the six female Egyptian rulers. When Women Ruled the World is an excellent book for anyone interested in early Egyptian archaeology/history and the gender struggles of ancient peoples. The book does not go too in dept on topics, making it great for a casual reader (and for people who enjoy this sort of thing, leaves room for plenty of further study).

One of my favorite aspects of the book (which I am sure some people hated) was how Cooney used modern examples, particularly the 2016 election and how people reacted and responded to Hillary Clinton, to give context to some of the things happening in Egypt and it’s female rulers.

It was a cool book and I highly recommend it to anyone.
