I enjoyed doing this last year and even though I did a pretty bad job, I figured it would be fun to do it again.
ATLANTIC | COASTAL |
Clemson | Miami |
Syracuse | Virginia |
Wake Forest | Pitt |
NC State | Georgia Tech |
Florida State | Virginia Tech |
Boston College | Duke |
Louisville | UNC |
Obviously Clemson is the team to beat. It is stupid to even mention another team coming close to them. The rest of the conference is still pretty weak. I think Wake Forest could be the surprise team this year that either beats Clemson or at least comes close.
EAST | WEST |
Michigan | Iowa |
Ohio State | Northwestern |
Penn State | Nebraska |
Michigan State | Minnesota |
Indiana | Wisconsin |
Maryland | Purdue |
Rutgers | Illinois |
It is easy to say that the East is much better than the West, that is pretty obvious. I think Michigan wins the Big Ten championship this year and if they do not, I look for Harbaugh to be in trouble. Penn State will be good this year, but not great. I could definitely see them beating someone like Ohio State or Michigan, but then losing to Indiana. The West is a toss-up. I have no clue who will be good or bad over there.
Oklahoma
Texas
Iowa State
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
West Virginia
TCU
Baylor
Kansas State
Kansas
I think Oklahoma will be very good again, but I think Texas will be right there with them. The rest of the conference will be mediocre.
SOUTH | NORTH |
Arizona State | Stanford |
Utah | Washington |
USC | Washington State |
UCLA | Oregon |
Arizona | California |
Colorado | Oregon State |
I hate trying to predict the Pac-12. I like Arizona State, I think Herm Edwards is doing great things down there. I think Stanford could be the team that shocks everyone and wins the whole conference.
WEST | EAST |
Alabama | Georgia |
Texas A&M | Florida |
LSU | South Carolina |
Mississippi State | Missouri |
Auburn | Kentucky |
Ole Miss | Tennessee |
Arkansas | Vanderbilt |
Alabama is one of the best teams in the country…obviously. I hope Mississippi State has a great year, I like Tommy Stevens and want him to do well down there. Over in the East, I think Georgia is probably the best, but Florida could give them a run.
EAST | WEST |
UCF | Houston |
Cincinnati | Memphis |
South Flordia | Tulane |
Temple | Navy |
East Carolina | SMU |
UConn | Tulsa |
I decided to go crazy and do all of the conferences. This should be interesting. UCF is still the team to beat in this conference. The East is definitely stronger, but I think Houston should be decent.
WEST | EAST |
North Texas | FAU |
UAB | Marshall |
LA Tech | Middle Tennessee |
Southern Miss | FIU |
Rice | Western Kentucky |
UTSA | Charlotte |
UTEP | Old Dominion |
Crazy prediction time! I think Lane Kiffin has a big year with Florida Atlantic. Not like undefeated or anything insane like that (they open with Ohio State), but they win the conference and end up winning a bowl game. Kiffin needs a good season if he wants his star to go back up.
EAST | WEST |
Ohio | Northern Illinois |
Buffalo | Toledo |
Akron | Eastern Michigan |
Miami OH | Western Michigan |
Kent State | Central Michigan |
Bowling Green | Ball State |
I feel like NIU is always competitive in this conference. Also, why are there so many Michigan teams?
MW WEST | MW MOUNTAIN |
Fresno State | Boise State |
Nevada | Utah State |
San Diego State | Wyoming |
Hawaii | Colorado State |
UNLV | New Mexico |
San Jose State | Air Force |
I thought Boise State would have a better showing last year. I think they could beat FSU to start the year and then they have another tough one against Marshall in week two. Fresno State is in the same boat. They start with USC and Minnesota. Power Five opponents who they could defeat and give themselves some early momentum. Utah State has a tough one in a few weeks with LSU, but after that they are pretty clear for a big run.
GROUP A | GROUP B |
Appalachian State | Arkansas State |
Troy | LA-Lafayette |
Georgia Southern | LA-Monroe |
Georgia State | Texas State |
Coastal Carolina | South Alabama |
This is my favorite of the small conferences. I think that even with a new coach, App State is still the best in this conference. They have a pretty easy non-conference schedule this year: Charlotte from C-USA and UNC. Could they be the surprise undefeated team at the end of the year? Probably not, but it would definitely be cool.
PLAYOFFS
Alabama defeats Michigan
Clemson defeats Oklahoma
Clemson is your national champion again. I think of the independents, Notre Dame has another strong year, but I think they lose to Georgia and Michigan this year.
