A Great Day of Golf

Since I started playing golf again, I have not been able to break 100. Back in the day, I did it a few times (I had a period that I was regularly shooting in the mid 40s for nine). I have hovered around the 100-105 mark since that time. It always seems like I play better on the back nine (down at the beach, I shot decent scores on the back both days).

I golfed with Jason, Ryan, and Offord today. We try to get out once a year (we always say after that we will try to go more often, but it is so hard to arrange our schedules). As you can see from the scorecard, I shot a 94. It felt fantastic. It was my best 18-hole round ever.

I did it by hitting a bunch of fantastic putts. I nailed a few that were 25+ feet. I only had a few three putts and I do not think I had any higher than that. Looking at my scores, I had a birdie (which was because of a very long putt, maybe 30 feet). I only had three pars, but what saved me was the six bogies. I kept the double bogies to six as well. I only had one triple, which was the final hole, which I was playing it super easy since I knew I was definitely breaking 100.

I was also proud of the fact that even when I hit a bad shot, I did not get down on myself. I just regrouped and completely forgot about it. I also made sure to play smarter. Instead of focusing on the pin and worrying about getting the ball close to the hole, I made my goal to just get on the green. Those par and birdie putts started being there more than when I was trying to actually shoot at the hole. I think I would overthink shots too often.

Anyways, I had a great time today (Ryan and Offord went to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood after golf) and love hanging out with my friends. I wish we could do more together, but our lives are very busy.
