Matrix 4 News

Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are returning for a fourth Matrix film. People are already speculating about how this is possible since (SPOILER ALERT…but seriously, if you have not seen the Matrix trilogy, you deserve to have it spoiled) Neo & Trinity died.

In all honesty, there are plenty of ways to bring them back. The machines would have their genetic material and most likely have Neo’s consciousness uploaded somewhere. Perhaps the machines use Trinity to try and goad Neo into helping them. Maybe there is an outside threat to the Matrix and the machines need help…who knows. My point is that it is quite doable.

Hopefully the movie goes down a different avenue. Hear me out for a second. Remember in the first movie, when Morpheus is explaining the Matrix to Neo? He says something like “at the dawn of the 21st century, mankind rejoiced in their creation of AI.” To which Neo says “artificial intelligence.” And then Morpheus is like “yeah, artificial intelligence, you are a computer programmer, I assumed you knew what AI is, damn…maybe you are not the one.” Okay, sorry, that ran away from me there.

Anyways, later in the movie Agent Smith says that they created multiple simulations, but the human mind kept rejecting a utopia. The peace has been going for twenty years between humans and machines. The humans that remain asleep in the Matrix would be moving through time (maybe part of the deal is that the machines cannot reset the Matrix and mess with the timeline in there? who knows, plot detail that can be worked out). That would mean that the people inside the Matrix would be in the early 21st century. You know, when mankind created AI.

How cool would it be if the humans inside the Matrix, created AI, that ended up posing a threat to the actual machines outside the Matrix. The film could explore the idea (which is an actual theory out there) about whether or not the universe is just a simulation and if we could ever know. I would love to see a scene where the Architect begins to question whether or not his own reality is real. This was always the debate after the second movie that fans had with each other. Was the real world another simulation because of Neo having the ability to manipulate machines in the real world.

I loved the Matrix trilogy and I look forward to seeing where they go with this one. I am not one of those people who hated the third movie, I loved it as well and always felt satisfied with the direction the movies went.
