Podcast Recommendation

Former Penn State tight end, Adam Breneman, has a podcast called The Adam Breneman Show: Life in the Red Zone. It is probably the best new show I have listened to in a long time. It is about football, but Breneman gives fantastic insight into what life was like at Penn State during the sanctions.

If you enjoy football (who doesn’t?), but love hearing the more in-depth and personal stories of the whole process, then this is the perfect show for you. Adam discusses the recruiting of players (it is crazy how early it starts for some of these guys), the setbacks that affect them, and the challenges of leaving the game.

He also talks about the news from the football world, which is entertaining (he had some great insight into the whole Antonio Brown helmet debacle and then later gave some strong opinions about Brown going to New England).

However, the show is at it’s best when he is interviewing players. I love hearing about how players like Garrett Sickels or Christian Hackenberg felt about their time at Penn State. Or how Ryan Switzer and Malik Zaire all knew each other from different camps and social media back in the day.

I hope as the show continues that he delves more into the life of a college player. I am curious about the struggles they face adjusting to the better competition (the players that succeed versus the ones who fail).
