The Last of Us–Episode 205

One thing I love about this world is how no one knows too much about the zombies. They have their basic information: the different types they have encountered, but there could be tons more, regional variations, whatever. And it looks like there is either a new type, or a previously unknown variation. The beginning of the episode is about a squad of WLF soldiers who are sealed in the basement of the hospital because it turns out the cordyceps have an airborne variation. That is terrifying…no one would be foolish enough to just dive into that section of the hospital.
This episode just felt like things kept going from bad to worse. First Dina and Ellie find a route through the WLF patrols, but it goes through some long building. Guess what they find? Smart zombies. Ellie has the brilliant plan to take them out, but Dina needs to get to safety (Ellie says she will be safe from the bites, but I guess she forgets that she is immune to the bites, but not to the being eaten by zombies). She is overwhelmed, but then Jesse shows up and saves the day. They escape the building, then have to run from the WLF soldiers. They head to the park, and now they wind up in Seraphite country (yes, I finally learned the cult’s name). Dina takes an arrow to the leg, Jesse gets her out, Ellie draws the crazies away. She ends up at the hospital, and sneaks past a guard. She then makes her way to Nora.
Jesus, that showdown was great. I thought Nora was going to say how awful it was seeing Joel tortured, but then she switches gears and throws Ellie off. There is a chase, and guess where these ladies end up? Yep, the basement level. Nora is already infected and beginning to change. She realizes that Ellie is immune and tells her what Joel did. Ellie says that she knows, then begins to beat the crap out of Nora for the location of Abby. The episode ends with Ellie waking up and Joel being there. My guess is this is a flashback, and my guess is that Joel tells her the truth.
The other thing I loved in the episode was Dina’s story about her first kill. It really helps remind us that these girls are growing up in a brutal world.
