Here is my contribution to International Women’s Day.
Why are darts/billiards and other barroom sports segregated? What advantage do men have over women when throwing darts? Or shooting pool? I suppose that men can break harder, but does that always matter?
Why is there a lady’s clay pigeon championship? I feel like these are all sports that can be done just as well by women, so just have mixed competition.
What are some other sports where gender should not matter? Bowling? The scoring is the same, the lanes are the same. Are there rules differences for the women?
What about golf? Yes, men can hit further than women, the drive averages prove that for us. However, you could have the ladies play from the red tees in a PGA event and that should level it out.
It is the 21st century, why do we need two of every sport? I get having NBA/WNBA or baseball/softball or tennis. You cannot adjust things to make it more fair, but these other sports have no reason to be divided. I hope no one thinks this is me being a jerk and saying they need to get rid of women’s sports. Not at all! I just think that some of these things, women are just as good as men, so let them play against and beat the men.
