Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of my favorite movies. I do not even know how many times I have watched it, probably a few hundred times (I am not even remotely exaggerating). I cannot tell you my favorite part because…well every scene is one of my favorites. However, this guard scene has always been one of my favorites. The interplay between the guard and the father. The joke is so stupid, but it works so well. Then when Lancelot attacks the castle and comes to the room, the guard is like “wait, you are not to enter the room, umm” and then Lancelot kills him (just after chopping the bouquet of flowers as he climbs the stairs). My favorite line from the scene is “Ah. I thought you meant him. You know, it seemed a bit daft me havin’ to guard him when he’s a guard.” Just so funny. Also, the hiccup and get some water makes the entire thing even better.
