Top Five Travel: World Edition

The Earth is pretty huge. I mean, not on a cosmic scale or anything. Jupiter is eleven times the size of Earth. Then you start thinking about how big a planet is compared to a star…and then…wait, sorry, this is not a post about astronomy. This post is about the top five places Lindsey & I would like to visit around the world. When I did the North America edition, it was about different cities/areas. This post is even going to be less specific. We would love to go to the Maldives or Fiji (and honestly, we may do that eventually), but this post was just our top five, if we had money, big vacations and why. Also, I am not splitting this one up. Most of our picks overlap.

V

Africa–not the whole continent. I would like to go to South Africa at some point and maybe Kenya. Lindsey would like to go see the animals, perhaps on a safari. I would love to hit up some of the cities, such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, or Nairobi.

IV

Greece–This one is a little more obvious for me. I want to see all the classical ruins: Athens, Rhodes, Crete, etc. But I think Lindsey would love hitting up all the beautiful beaches.

III

Paris–This one was totally Lindsey and she shocked me with her reason: she really enjoyed The Da Vinci Code. I am definitely cool with going to Paris because the city pretty much has everything, right? You have history, culture, modern wonders…what is not to love?

II

Ireland–This is not a place I have ever really wanted to visit, but Lindsey made a strong case for it. She said “well it seems really pretty there and they have tons of castles.” She is right, the island is beautiful, but in a raw kind of way. Also, Game of Thrones and Star Wars have used places in Ireland for filming locations, so I could be persuaded to check it out.

I

Italy–For me it starts with Rome. I would probably want to spend days just hitting up the big sites such as the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the various temples…seriously, there are way too many to list. Lindsey wants to see Venice (she loves canals for some reason) and Tuscany (food, wine, I have no clue…it looks awesome). I feel like Italy would be a pretty amazing vacation.

My list included Australia & England. I honestly have no clue what I want to see in Australia, would I want to just stick to Sydney or try to venture out and see as much of the continent as possible? People forget that Australia is pretty freakin’ big. Also, I think at some point we should do a Mediterranean cruise, so we can hit up Greece, Italy, and a few other stops. Or head to Paris, then visit London, then Ireland for a few days.

So what are some places that you would like to visit? Personally, I want to hit the lottery and just travel the world.
