The Attic

Our attic is not insulated. Okay, that is not totally true. There is like one little section that has insulation. Who does that? We got an estimate on getting the whole thing done and it was a little pricey. If we were planning to live here forever, then yeah, I would say spend it.

I decided to do it myself. It was not actually as awful as I thought it would be. The hardest part was just moving everything around up there. We have tons of stuff stored up there. I had to take everything and put on one side, then move it all over to the other side. Ughhhh.

I got about a quarter of it done on Friday. The plan was to get up super early on Monday and take Payton to daycare. Well naturally, things do not go according to plan. Lindsey went to work and I forgot to reset my alarm. I woke up at 8:30. I jumped out of bed, dressed Payton, who was up and having a great time in her crib, gave her a quick breakfast, made coffee, and ran out the door.

I went to Home Depot and bought more insulation, then came home to get started. Around 3:00 I was out of insulation and still had the final quarter of the attic to finish. I ran back to Home Depot and bought two more rolls.

I finally got it all finished around 5:30. Well, mostly done. I did not move everything around (I want to take the time and actually organize the attic). I am glad I am finished, insulation is so freakin’ itchy. I hope now the house retains heat a little better than it has the past few winters.
