The Garage Project

Sorry to disappoint you, this is not a post about some band and a cool new box set they are releasing. Nope, this is actually a post about cleaning out a garage. Wait, don’t stop reading! I promise it will be good mediocre.

You may remember that I tackled the shed a few weeks ago. Last week I started on the garage. It took me a solid eight hours one day to remove all the paint cans and other random junk left over from the previous owners.

Hold up. We are too nice when we buy a house. People leave stuff and we just say “sure, no problem.” Yet when we sell a house, we leave something and they are freaking out telling us to remove it. I guess the next time we buy a house, we should be jerks and make them remove everything.

Once I had about nine contractor bags full of garbage, then I could start with organizing and setting things up the way I want. Sadly, that is not my thing. I had to bring in a professional. Lindsey decided we should do peg board and hang the tools. Baskets! Hooks! She was excited.

I decided to remove the cabinet and put the peg board there and then hang the cabinet on the other side of the garage. I removed all of the nails that were used for hanging random things and installed hooks and screws.

I have a nice little work area (HAHAHA, like for when I decide to start wood-carving or something equally ridiculous) and we can actually get in and out of the car without tripping over stuff.

I took some of Dad’s flyfishing stuff and decided to hang it up above my work area. I look at it as a way to remember where I come from and whenever I screw something up to think “damn it, he would have had this done in like two seconds, I suck.”

Anyways, the garage is done. I guess I can take some time off…hahaha, just kidding! On to the next project.
