2021 Fantasy Baseball Championship

This was a fantastic match. We were very close all week. Early on I was down 5-4 for a few days, then I took the lead and managed to hold onto it for the week. Going into Sunday it was 8-4, but James was able to flip runs, which made it much closer.

At the beginning of the week, I decided to not even try to compete with the streaming pitcher strategy. James is just better at it than everyone (hey, a compliment for James!). I knew I would be punting wins and strikeouts. I added some reliever help and decided to go after holds, saves, ERA, WHIP. By the middle of the week though, James only had like two wins. I knew those were within reach. I did not stream, but dropped a reliever and added a few starters. The last days though, I dropped almost all starters to add relievers back to the starting lineup. It paid off because I won three out of four of those stats I was hoping to get. How do you go all week with more RPs and still have no saves?

Fantasy Stud
Patrick Wisdom (wait, his name is Patrick? I have been calling him Peter all year, oops) wants the ROY award. He decided to help his cause this week by hitting five HRs (which was almost enough to defeat James on his own), scoring eight runs, and knocking in ten. He hit for a respectable .286 and a very solid .400 OBP. Not too shabby for a guy I picked up on June 2nd. Although, on a side note, I will probably end up with the NL ROY on my team (Jonathan India has to be the other candidate).

Around the League
Ryan 8 Sean 4–I am pretty sure these two helped contribute to my win. They both streamed pitchers for their third place battle and I bet that impacted who James was trying to pick up. Thanks guys!
Pat 6 Gideon 6–I guess Pat had the tie-breaker for that 7th place match.
Dustin 10 Matt 2–Hey, 9th place is cooler than 10th.

The final standings look like this:
Josh
James
Ryan
Sean
Adam2
Jason
Pat
Gideon
Dustin
Matt

I plan on doing an award post and updating our historical stats. Also, a few things for next year:
-I am doing away with divisions. It has a negative impact on the scheduling (I played Gideon three times in the regular season, but Matt only once).
-I am not sure how this happened, but the season ended very early. It is nice to have it end before fantasy football starts, but I think the settings carried over from the weird short season last year. I will fix that so the season ends closer to the actual end of the baseball season.
-Can we add another team? Anyone have a friend who would be interested? If we can add one, then I can probably get Lindsey to play again. I would prefer it to be someone who actually would pay attention all year.

Thank you everyone for another fantastic year!
