I have been silent about the COVID-19 vaccine. I was trying to respect people’s decision and listen to their reasoning for why they might be hesitant to get the vaccine. I am through with that now. I know this will piss many of you off, but you need to hear this. Get the fucking vaccine! We can get out of this if we get everyone vaccinated.
If you are one of those people who is refusing the vaccine because you believe there is a microchip or that this is some New World Order plot to sterilize the masses, then this post is not for you. There is nothing I can say that will convince you. Fortunately, those crazy folks are in the minority. This post if for the vaccine hesitant people out there.
One common thing I have heard from friends and family is that they are waiting to see if there are negative side effects. Well…I think you waited long enough. We have not heard about anyone developing any mutations that turned them into the X-Men (and seriously, if that happened, I would be in line to get more shots). Approximately 190 million people have been vaccinated. Of those people, only about 6200 people have died after receiving the shot. And of that group, only three of those deaths are attributed to the vaccine. THREE! I think we can say that the vaccine is safe. Unfortunately, of those 6200 other deaths, we have the common fallacy of Causation vs. Correlation.
Ask your doctor if you scared about the vaccine. See what they say. I am guessing your doctor will tell you to get the vaccine. If your doctor told you they think you need blood pressure medication, you would not say “well I need to know what is in it.” You would head over to CVS to pick up your prescription. And of course there can be side effects from any vaccine or medication. When I was a small child, I had a reaction to my tetanus shot. I could not feel my legs for a few days. My parents did not believe me. Years later when I went for another tetanus shot, I read the paper about the shot and at the bottom it said something like “1:10,000,000 will lose feeling in their limbs for a short period time.”
Another thing I have heard from some people is that they are worried about the vaccine causing infertility. Well, look into it. Talk to your doctor. Guess what? There does not look to be any findings of infertility caused by the vaccine. Do you know what does affect infertility? COVID-19!
And the final reason you should get the vaccine: my kids! Kids under 12 cannot receive the vaccine (yet). I do not want my kids to get sick because your dumb ass would not get vaccinated. Lindsey & I did our part. We wore the masks, we social distanced, and then we got our shots. We are fine. We need everyone else to get their shots so that our kids and the people who are not able to get the vaccine do not have to worry.
The longer this goes on, the more likely that a mutated variant (probably Omega because that would be poetic) will emerge that is not stopped by the vaccine and is even more deadly. OR we could be in for a situation akin to the common cold. I read recently that the common cold may have came from Russia a few hundred years ago. It killed tons of people and then it mutated to the point of being the cold. Yeah, that does not seem so bad, but the cold is fucking annoying. Do we want a variant of COVID that just makes you feel like crap for a few days and is highly contagious? No, I do not want that either. SO GET VACCINATED AND PUT A STOP TO THIS SHIT ONCE AND FOR ALL!
