Best of 2022: Favorite Song

I did not listen to all that much new music this year. I play the same stations on Amazon Music when I am in the car (and not listening to books or podcasts), so it is difficult to listen to new stuff. So instead of trying to find a new song that I enjoyed, I want to highlight the five most played songs by me.

5. “Nobody Like U”–from Turning Red
Payton and I enjoyed this movie, but we do not get to watch it often because for some reason Logan was scared of the mom when she turns into a red panda. Anyways, this song is catchy, and we have played it a bunch or when it comes on the Disney station in the car, Payton and I jam out to it.

4. “Tangled Up in Blue”–Bob Dylan
I go through phases where I listen to something a bunch (I suppose that is normal). After my Tragically Hip and other 90s rock bands phase, I started listening to some Bob Dylan. This is one of my favorites and has been getting a heavy amount of play. Logan likes it, which makes me happy.

3. “Stop Making Stupid People Famous”–Our Lady Peace
One of the few new albums I listened to this year was Spiritual Machines 2. Our Lady Peace released this song last year, but the album came out sometime this year. I wonder if Greg likes this song? If you do not follow OLP on Facebook, then allow me to explain. Some guy named Greg said that Life was a good song, but the worst song on the album. The band ran with it and has since made a ton of Greg-related jokes. Whoever runs their social media is funny. They have also made fun of the lead singer for receiving a ticket for jaywalking in Saskatchewan.

2. “Surface Pressure” from Encanto
The entire soundtrack was played a ton in our house, as well as in my car. “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is probably the kids favorite, but this is mine. I am not going to lie, I sing this on my own and definitely have played it while alone.

1.”Only The Wild Ones” –Dispatch
This was almost my favorite song of 2017, but I think I forgot about it when I wrote my post back then, haha. It is such a great song that grows on you the more you hear it. Last year I was in a huge Dispatch kick to prepare for the concert, but then it was canceled. Fortunately, we got to see them this year, and for most of the summer this song was played at least once per day. I think Payton and Logan got sick of hearing it.
