The Last of Us–Episode 104

Do you remember the documentary Life After People? I think it was on History Channel. They turned it into a series, which was not nearly as good, but the original documentary was fantastic. It basically went with the premise of what would happen if people disappeared from Earth. The first few hours, days, weeks, months, years. Watching The Last of Us reminds me of that documentary, at the point of twenty years after people.

The beginning where Joel explains to Ellie how the gas breaks down is what made me think of all that. There are just so many little things that would happen over twenty years without people there. I love watching them try to navigate the highway with all the cars, collapsing bridges, etc.

I also loved the bonding between Joel & Ellie. Bonding comes easily when terrible puns and jokes are involved. But there was also him teaching her to properly hold a gun. He has a parental nature, but at the same time he knows the world they are navigating.

What was going on with the floor in that building? Is there a fungal monster about to attack the building? Do not tell me, but it was definitely weird. I am guessing the two people who snuck up on Joel and Ellie are Henry and whoever else they were talking about. Further proof that Iowa sucks.
