Harrow the Ninth

The second book in The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir was definitely out there. I spent a good chunk of the book not knowing what was going on, but she is such a good writer, that I was still intrigued. Now, I should mention that I listened to the audiobook. Someone informed me that there were clues in the written version that would have probably helped me understand what was happening a little sooner.

It was immediately obvious that something was wrong with Harrow (there may be some spoilers from here on out). Her recollections of events from the first book were clearly wrong (unless Gideon was an unreliable narrator in the first book). But it was very clear since she never mentioned Gideon at all. I had this weird feeling that something was done to her brain. There were other clues such as the sword. Also, towards the end when the memories are all wrong each time and Abigail or someone else keeps saying “this is not how it happened” or whatever they would say. That was a big Fight Club moment revelation (thinking of the bartender scene when the Narrator asks who he is and the bartender calls him Mr.Durden).

I plan to listen to the next book shortly. I am curious where this series goes.
