The Last of Us–Episode 108

Another great episode. It made me think of how The Walking Dead would introduce us to a group like this and then spend the next bunch of episodes trying to convince us they were good, then do the whole big reveal. This show just cuts right to it. The focus is not how shitty society is, but the growth of Joel and Ellie.

It was definitely creepy when the dude put his hand on Ellie’s and started saying how they could be together. It was also great when she broke his finger for being a perv. Just goes to show you should probably never trust religious people.

The highlight of the episode was the brutality exhibited by Joel and Ellie. When Joel has to torture the guy for information, or bash the other guy’s head in once he has the info, it is clear Joel will do anything to protect Ellie. Oh and do not worry, she can be equally brutal. In order to survive she takes a cleaver to her enemies.

Unlike the bad guy, who has given up on humanity, Joel and Ellie can embrace and show love for each other. They will do whatever is necessary to protect each other and continue their quest. Fun note, I saw that the actor who played Joel in the game had a role in the show (I think as the #2 bad guy).
