THE NFL IS NOT RIGGED

Sometimes it feels like life just keeps repeating itself. Exactly five years ago, I wrote a post about people thinking the NFL is rigged. I wish I could say that post was such a huge success that no one still believes that nonsense. But people are stupid, and it has somehow gotten much worse.

Now the theory is that the Super Bowl logo gives away who is going to be in the Super Bowl. Take a look…

I mean this looks pretty convincing, right? Colors!!! But take a second and think about this. Red is pretty much the color for half the league in some way. You could consider red for the 49ers, Chiefs, Bills, Bucs, Falcons, Patriots, Texans, Giants, and Cardinals. Yeah, some of those are a secondary color, but saying that top one is the same orange as the Bengals is a stretch, so we can stretch the colors as well.

Do you know who the preseason favorites were for the Super Bowl this year? Baltimore and San Fran. Last year? Kansas City and Philadelphia. The year before that??? More interesting…KC and Tampa were the faves. But the Rams and Bills were a close second. Not sure when they create the logo, but my guess is the art department uses the favorites for a color scheme. Does not mean the entire sport is scripted, just that they have some creative artists (who have heard these theories and have definitely leaned into them).

The next big piece of evidence is this screen grab from a news report on…actually I do not know what this screen is…maybe a gas pump??? Whatever, it does not matter.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! Someone at the league office screwed up by releasing that information. I bet they are firing that guy. Or they probably had him murdered.

OR…

This kind of crap is written by AI. The program scrapes a bunch of sites and puts together the story. Since it does not know the difference between credible news and a bunch of popular conspiracy theories, it finds a bunch of sites saying that the Super Bowl will be between Baltimore and San Francisco. This is why replacing writers with AI is probably a bad idea.

I asked this last time, and no one really gave me an answer, so I will ask again:

WHY WOULD THE NFL RIG THE ENTIRE SEASON?

The only answers people give me are things about Las Vegas and the gambling sites wanting to control who wins. But why? They make money off dumb people making dumb bets (usually me and stupid parleys). Also, if you all are so sure it is rigged, why tell people? You cracked the code, put $50k on the two teams making the Super Bowl, you could be rich.

But the casinos and gambling sites rigging things to make money (I think people mean that the refs are paid off) is not what those pictures are saying. The conspiracy theory says that the NFL is completely rigged, that the entire thing is planned out before the season starts.

So again…WHY?

People point out that there are all these stories, like it was all planned. You know, last year it was the Kelce brothers. The year before we had Matthew Stafford leading the Rams after the big trade. However, I think journalists will find a feel-good story no matter what team makes it…here, let me give it a shot:

Ravens: Lamar Jackson proving the doubters wrong, John Harbaugh would join his brother Jim as champions in the same year.

49ers: Going for their 6th Super Bowl, Brock Purdy being Mr. Irrelevant.

Lions: So bad for so long, Hutchinson being a local boy.

Chiefs: The Dynasty continues, Taylor Swift!

I could keep going…

Steelers: Going for #7, 3rd string QB, fired OC

If the Bills and Cowboys made it, they could have featured the Diggs brothers. It is also not hard to find teams that have guys who played together in college.

I came up with this shit in like ten seconds. I bet a good sports journalist has these stories ready and researched weeks in advance. Little primers for each team that just need fleshed out once the Super Bowl is set. You do not need to rig the entire league, you just need to take a few minutes and do some research.

So please, stop with this bullshit.
