40 Years

Last year at this time I was having a pretty tough time wrapping my head around getting older. I wish I could tell you that I have had some major revelation and accepted that I am now forty years old. I am not freaking out or anything, nor will I be rushing out to buy a sports car or whatever other mid-life crisis cliche you can imagine.

That being said, I am forty years old now. I am not the same person that I was twenty or even ten years ago. As Mike Gundy put it…

But hey, before this turns into a post about my deepest, darkest fears and the crushing pressure of the entire universe, let me just wrap things up by saying that we are having a small party to celebrate my birthday this weekend. I cannot wait to see friends and family, many of whom I have not seen in quite a few years.

I think I will be okay with all of this…getting older. I have wonderful people in my life to share the time with and I think that makes it all worthwhile. Right? Maybe? I hope so…
