My Birthday Party

On Saturday we celebrated my 40th birthday with a party. It was amazing to have so many friends and family show up from all over to see me. It was definitely what I needed to help cure that funk that was hitting me about turning forty.

Needless to say, I drank way more than I have in a few years and definitely felt like death on Sunday. Oh well, it was a great time and worth the hangover.

I did get a bunch of really cool gifts. First, my mom got me the PhiGolf simulator. I have not had the chance to try it out, but I am hoping to tomorrow after work. With the money I received, I went out and bought myself a smart watch.

I decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy Active2. Lindsey was shocked because for once, I did not go with the newest, most expensive item. I like that the Active2 came in a smaller size and honestly, for what I want it for, I cannot justify spending $400. I have played with it a good bit today and definitely like it.

And the last gift I want to mention was from my Aunt Sandy. It was actually a collection of memories. For example there was a box of spaghetti (because when I was little, I used to come to my pap and gram’s house and say that we had spaghetti everyday). Or there was a banana (they once asked if I wanted a banana and I said that yeah, I ate the all the time…then proceeded to eat it with the peel still on it). There was a stuffed bunny (I was afraid of them), Game of Thrones stickers, and so many other things that truly made my day. It was a fun stroll down memory lane.

There were other cool gifts (a bottle of bourbon from James, which I feel bad because I am not a bourbon guy, but I will try it sometime, most likely with Adam2). A fantastic book about the top athletes from Pittsburgh (I checked it out and was shocked that Ryan was not in there at all).

The gifts were cool, but honestly, spending the day telling stories, playing cornhole, and eating great food (I know, I made most of it, but I am fine with bragging a little bit). Again, thank you to all of the folks who could make it and to those who could not, I totally understand and hope we can get together sometime soon.
