I love when people post stupid stuff on Facebook. Here are two examples I have seen floating around the last few days…
God Is Confused
This first one comes from a very long religious post. It usually starts with a picture of Jesus talking to some normal looking guy. It then has the guy complaining about all of the horrible stuff that happened to him and how come God allowed all that bad stuff to happen to him. I suppose it is meant to teach something about God knowing more than us mere mortals. Or maybe to not question God? Or perhaps that the lord works in mysterious ways. I do not know, I never make it to the end because I get hung up on one part.
The person says that he slept in late, God responds that the death angel was at his bed and God had to send one of his angels to save his life. God decided our hero needed a little extra sleep during that battle. But…I thought angels were God’s beings, right? I mean, didn’t he send the death angel to Egypt to kill all the first-born? So if God did not want this guy dead, why not just say “hey death angel, check your list, you have the wrong house again!” Or does the original post mean that it was a demon? A death demon? God does not have control over death? Is that not part of his plan? When someone dies, people always say “it is all part of God’s plan.” But maybe it wasn’t, maybe a death demon killed that person. Does that mean God was unable to send an angel that day? And people say that comic books have continuity problems.
Also, since I am an atheist, maybe some religious people can help me with something: do believers actually blame God for such trivialities? Your phone went dead and you blamed the creator of the universe? Your foot massager did not work? The person made your sandwich wrong? If you are angry at God for these things, you are probably a pretty shitty person. Advantage to being an atheist…when my phone goes dead, you know who I blame? Myself! I should have been responsible and charged it when the battery was low.
Wait, Are We Pro-Assad Now?
I get that people do not like President Trump, but this is a little ridiculous. We blew up some chemical facilities that make the weapons that Assad uses to kill his own people. This was reported by the news media that Trump hates, such as CNN. Either this was created by someone who has no idea about the horrors the Syrian people face with their own government (on top of the different rebel factions fighting basically everyone), or they do not know that our allies (UK & France) also did some bombing as well. Or maybe this is just another one of those pieces of Russian trolling and further proof that there are idiots on the left who will believe anything. I mean, “brainwashed by fraudulent western media” sounds exactly like something you would read on a pro-Trump meme.
I would love to hear from all the people posting this meme, how do you expect us to work towards peace in Syria? Watch this video from last year…
Who are you apologizing to? Assad? Syrian Rebels? The Kurds? ISIS? Hezbollah? Russia? Iran? Turkey? Jordan? Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf States? People who were gassed? People who did the gassing? Stop pretending that you know anything about the conflict there and just admit that you are opposed to anything Donald Trump says or does. Sometimes though, he is not wrong.
