Venom Trailer

I have this weird love/hate relationship with this trailer. On the one hand, Tom Hardy is good in everything, so seeing him as Eddie Brock and talking to himself, being a bit unhinged, is definitely exciting. Unfortunately, it feels like without the Spider-Man angle, the story is a little weak. That was one of the attractions of the Venom character. Since Peter Parker bonded the Symbiote first, it could mimic all of Spider-Man’s abilities, but also could dodge his Spidey-sense (meaning Peter was very vulnerable to attacks from Venom). Unfortunately, the relationship between Marvel and Sony is odd at the moment. Sony wants to make more Spidey-verse films, but I do not think Marvel wants those films to tie-in to the MCU. It is complicated. I could see a way that they could have Spider-Man in the film without actually having him in it. Maybe Brock uncovers a video of Peter Parker freeing himself from the Symbiote, and this where the Life Foundation discovers it…perhaps?

One other complaint, and I am hoping they clean it up in post-production: the CGI at the end of the mask forming looks really bad.
