Farewell Voyager 2

NASA announced that the Voyager 2 probe finally left our solar system. This is the second probe to leave the solar system, as the first Voyager probe did it as well. What is cool about this one is that Voyager 2 has an instrument designed to measure the particles in the heliopause.

Think about that for a second. The sun’s influence expands all the way out past Pluto and the other Kuiper Belt objects. The distance is insane, it took the Voyagers probes 40+ years to reach the edge of the solar system. Now consider just how many stars there are out there. The bigger stars would have larger heliospheres. I guess all of this is just to remind people that space is really, really big.
