I finished reading the first book of Bryce O’Connor’s series The Wings of War. O’Connor must have paid for some Facebook ads because that is how I saw his book. The cover intrigued me, was the hero some kind of dragon?
Yes. His name is Raz and he is a highly skilled warrior. Much of the book focuses on his origin. The books jumps around a bit in time, so we get him as a young child, then later we learn about his life, and then a little later following him as we learn that he is an incredible sellsword.
There is also another story about a young girl, Syrah, who becomes a priestess of some Northern religion. She has a run in with Raz and then we learn a little about her powers.
The book has plenty of fantastic action. Raz has to fight his way out of some pretty incredible scenarios (the escape from the trap was one of my favorite parts).
I look forward to seeing where things go from here. This definitely has the potential to be a very good fantasy series.
