Who: Tulsi Gabbard, Member of the House of Representatives from Hawaii
Slogan: “Lead with Love”
Positive: She was an ardent Bernie supporter. Many of his supporters love her and have switched to her team and if Bernie drops out for some reason, she could take up his spot. She is a veteran and she has a slightly different foreign policy than what people would expect.
Negative: There are allegations that she also has ties to Russia, or at least Russian support. Her supporters seem to be fanatical about her similar to the way Bernie Bros love Sanders. I can see a scenario where she loses the nomination and a small portion of her followers decide to sit out.
My Thoughts: She is a unique voice in the Democratic Party and that is something that is desperately needed. I do not think her uniqueness will translate well for the nomination, but she has a long future in politics. There are too many questions about her past statements that some voters cannot overlook (her support of Assad, LGBTQ statements, etc). Her campaign logo is simple, but I like it. The black works and I enjoy the rounded edges of the T & I.
Odds: 22:1
She has the third best odds of the women candidates and she is ahead of other candidates like Cory Booker and Amy Klobuchar. Those odds put her around 4.3%. If you want to put $10 on her, it would not be a crazy bet.
