I think everyone has heard the Felipe Vazquez news by now. It sounds like he will be spending some time in jail. I would guess he pleads guilty, but I am not an expert.
Anyways, it seems that MLB has put Vazquez on administrative leave for the time being. For some reason Pirates fans seem to think this is just par for the course for the team. Or that management should have known that Vazquez was a pedophile. Come on, like that would have been a question in an interview or that scouts would pay attention to what girls a pitcher is looking at while in the bullpen.
There are also people who are upset that the Pirates have not cut ties with him immediately. Unfortunately, it seems the contract situation is a reason why they do not just fire him. Be pretty crappy if they just cut him and had to pay him millions of dollars (I think I saw $20-$30 million left on his contract?), which he could use for his criminal defense.
For once folks, lay off Pirates management and ownership. They are doing the appropriate thing.
