Being Really Dumb

Hey! How’s it going? Remember me? Yeah, I used to write a blog. It has been so long since that last post, that I barely remember how to do this anymore. I wish I had some great news about being all done with the house…but no. Not even close.

I think I mentioned that I was trying to paint as much as possible. After finishing Payton’s room then I moved to the Play Room. I taped everything, fixed the walls, and decided to remove the ugly baseboard heaters. I saw these covers at Home Depot and I planned on buying them. I should have checked into these things before I started ripping old, ugly, metal baseboards out.

For some reason, I thought these covers just attached to the heater part and the wall. Do not judge, I am an idiot at times. So I ripped the outside parts and bent the crap out of them. I bought the covers and then realized to my horror that they needed to be attached to the old ugly baseboards.

I was able to get one of the pieces back on, but the other one was bent. Adam and I tried to screw it in, but that did not work. We also tried liquid nail, but alas it was just too bent to hold to the wall. The cover went on and it actually does not stick out from the wall too much. I think keeping something up against it helps that problem.

I bought a few more for the kitchen, figuring it would be nice and easy. HAHAHAHA. Nothing can ever be easy! I had to pry the metal baseboards from the wall (I swear people just painted over them like ten times) and then the end caps would not fit because of how the trim and hardwood floor were cut. Fortunately, Lindsey’s step-dad had a tool (I have no clue what it is called, I guess an oscillating tool with a wood blade). I was able to cut the trim and some of the floor so that the end caps could fit.

My mom got us a bunch more of the covers and hopefully I can start putting them on as soon as possible.  I mean, look how much better they look…
