This is the sun. You know, the giant ball in the sky you see sometimes. The Inouye Solar Telescope took some of the most detailed pictures ever captured.
The cool thing about the picture is that what you are looking at is the hot plasma coming to the surface, then cooling to the point that it sinks. Each of those cells is about the size of Texas.
