A24 has a good track record and this looks incredibly cool. For those that do not know, this is a movie based on the King Arthur story Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. The story is that a mysterious Green Knight shows up looking for a fight. He tells Sir Gawain that he can hit him with an ax on one condition, that the Green Knight can return the blow in a year and one day.
Gawain hacks off the Green Knight’s head and it looks like that is the end of it. Then the body retrieves the head and the knight says he will be back in 366 days to take his shot. The story involves that next year and we learn the kind of knight that Gawain is. There is plenty of weirdness in the story, probably because it is like 600 years old.
I hope the movie focuses on Gawain and his year long struggle with his impending death by the Green Knight. Also, I wonder if the King & Queen we see will be named as Arthur and Guinevere. Or if the movie will just allude to them.
