The Light of All That Falls

I finally finished the last book of the Licanius Trilogy. I enjoyed it. I should say that I enjoyed the second half of the book. The first half was a little boring. Personally, I think this series would have been better if it were a few more books. Islington could have really explored the Venerate and the history.

The second half was fantastic, especially the more the time-travel aspect comes into play. It could be a bit confusing at times trying to remember everything, but that is the fun with time-travel. The development of Davian is probably the most satisfying aspect of the series and maybe the journey of Caeden.

I will not lie, the ending was pretty well telegraphed. A bit of a spoiler here, so you should stop reading if you have not finished the book yet. When Nethgalla explains to Davian that to shape-shift into a person, you have to kill them, it became obvious that he would at some point shift into Davian and go back to confront himself. I mean, it would not make sense for Davian to die. The biggest reveal was who Davian’s parents were. I loved it.

If you read this series, let me know what you thought.
