We Have a Playground!

It took a few hours and a good amount of blood and sweat, but the play set is finished. This was something that we got for Logan’s birthday (although it was for both kids), actually I think a few family members pitched in for it. Due to the pandemic, the set did not ship for quite awhile, I think it came a few weeks ago, but then it never stopped raining or snowing.

I got started on May 3rd and the first thing I did was start by reading the instructions. I would normally skip something like taking every piece out and organizing them. However, there were a ton of pieces and it seemed like a smart decision to also inventory everything to make sure nothing was damaged or missing.

I should have called immediately and told them that I was missing a piece, but at a quick glance, it looked like they sent me two H1s, instead of an H1 and H2. This came into play later because those pieces did not line up the holes correctly and I had to eventually drill my own holes. Also, the floor pieces did not end up fitting properly, so I had to cut a few pieces to make them fit. Eventually in the end, it all came together and worked out.

Needless to say, Payton was excited. Actually, everyday she would be sad that I had to go to work and would ask if I would put her swing set together when I got home. When it was done, she said “now we never have to go to the real playground again!” She is silly.

I felt bad because Payton kept trying to help me, but she is just too small. Nor can she read, so asking her to grab the one that says D6, does not go so well. And she cannot lift anything more than like two pounds. Eventually I convinced her that she would be a big help singing Disney songs to me.

It was a fun project, but I am glad it is done. Next I plan to put in a border and some kind of mulch, probably the black rubber stuff, but I am not entirely sure yet.
