Josh’s College Football Rankings 2022–Week 11

Crazy to think we are almost at the end of the season. It is also crazy how doing this each week causes me to like certain teams more than I normally would. I am almost always happy to see an upset, but tonight I was a little sad watching Oregon lose to Washington. Why? I was totally pulling for them to win out and maybe make the playoff. Weird, right?

  1. Georgia (10-0)–#1–W 45-19 Mississippi State–Georgia clinched a berth to the SEC Championship game.
  2. Ohio State (10-0)–#2–W 56-14 Indiana–The Buckeyes continue to lose players to injury. Do they even have running backs at this poitn?
  3. Michigan (10-0)–#3–W 34-3 Nebraska–The Wolverines run game can just punish a team.
  4. TCU (10-0)–#4–W 17-10 #20 Texas–The Horned Frogs have now beat five ranked teams. And yet they are getting crap because of their non-conference schedule.
  5. Tennessee (9-1)–#5–W 66-24 Mizzou–I guess the Vols wanted to make a statement that they are not out of it.
  6. USC (9-1)–#7–W 55-17 Colorado–I cannot imagine the Trojans make it the rest of the way without another loss.
  7. LSU (8-2)–#9–W 13-10 Arkansas–I am sorry, but this did not look like the team that beat Alabama. They had trouble with Arkansas, who lost to Liberty last week. Oh, and Liberty lost to UConn this week. I will give a playoff team a pass for a tough win against a bad opponent. They get one. But LSU has two losses, they cannot also have a tough win against a Razorbacks team that is without their starting QB.
  8. Alabama (8-2)–#10–W 30-24 #11 Ole Miss–So much has been made about this being the end of the Alabama dynasty. I do not think it is time to hand over that crown to Georgia quite yet.
  9. Clemson (9-1)–#12–W 31-16 Louisville–I had a feeling that the Cardinals might upset Clemson, but I was wrong.
  10. Penn State (8-2)–#13–W 30-0 Maryland–Fans are never happy. They have complained for years about PSU not running enough. Now they have a running game, and they complain about everything else. You would swear this team is 5-5 by the way some of the fanbase complains.
  11. UNC (9-1)–#14–W 36-34 Wake Forest–The Tar Heels won another close game. And Wake Forest was ranked fairly high early in the season, but lost some games to ranked opponents. I still do not know if UNC is good enough to be a top ten team. I suppose we will find out on December 3rd when they play Clemson for the ACC Championship.
  12. Washington (8-2)–#19–W 37-34 #6 Oregon–That was a great game. I believe I had the Huskies ranked higher than the CFP committee (#19 vs. #25), so obviously I know way more than those idiots.
  13. Oregon (8-2)–#6–L 37-34 #19 Washington–I have a bunch of Pac-12 teams bunched up here. This stuff will figure itself out in the next week or so. Oregon ends with Utah & Oregon State.
  14. Utah (8-2)–#16–W 42-7–They end the year with Oregon & Colorado.
  15. Ole Miss (8-2)–#11–L 30-24 #10 Alabama–The Rebels have not beat the Tide since 2015.
  16. UCLA (8-2)–#8–L 34-28 Arizona–Not a good loss. They have USC & Cal. The Pac-12 is better than the ACC, right? Is the Pac-12 better than the Big Ten this year? Would Oregon State fair better than Minnesota or Illinois in the West?
  17. Kansas State (7-3)–#22–W 31-3 #23 Baylor–I thought for sure Baylor would win this game, but it was not even close.
  18. UCF (8-2)–HM–W 38-31 #15 Tulane
  19. Notre Dame (7-3)–#21–W 35-32 Navy–I do not understand this team at all.
  20. Florida State (7-3)–#25–W 38-3 Syracuse–So much for Syracuse being back.
  21. Coastal Carolina (9-1)–HM–W 26-23 Southern Miss–Continue to win close games, but a 9-1 record is worthy of being ranked.
  22. Oregon State (7-3)–NR–W 38-10 California
  23. Oklahoma State (7-3)–NR–W 20-14 Iowa State
  24. UTSA (8-2)–W 51-7 Louisiana Tech
  25. Tulane (8-2)- L 38-31 UCF–Will we see a rematch in the AAC Championship? Is there an AAC Championship, I think so, but I cannot remember.

Honorable Mention
Minnesota (7-3)–NR–W 31-3 Northwestern
Cincinnati (8-2)–NR–W 27-25 East Carolina
South Alabama (8-2)–WL–W 38-21 Texas State
Troy (8-2)–WL–W 10-9 Army
Duke (7-3)–NR–W 24-7 Virginia Tech

Watch List
Boise State (7-3)–NR–W 41-3 Nevada
Ohio (7-3)–NR–W 37-21 Miami OH
Toledo (7-3)–NR–W 28-21 Ball State–Time to go the MAC some love. Ohio & Toledo are having nice seasons, despite those non-conference losses.
Wyoming (7-3)–NR–W 14-13 Colorado State–They play Boise State next week for control of the Mountain Division.
NC State (7-3)–#18–L 21-20 Boston College–They finish the year with Louisville and UNC. I would imagine they will be amped up for UNC and the chance to ruin their playoff dream.

As I mentioned above, the big games this coming week are out west. #6 USC heads to #16 UCLA, while #14 Utah travels to Eugene to face #13 Oregon. #1 Georgia heads to Kentucky. #3 Michigan takes their chances with Illinois, in what could be an intriguing game. I could see Illinois giving them a tough game. Here is an interesting game that I think people should check out: #17 Kansas State at WVU. The Mountaineers are tough at home, and it feels like they need a big win or their coach is getting fired. If you want a game that I might put some money on: UAB at LSU. UAB is not great or anything, but I could see this being a closer game that it should be.
