2018 Fantasy Baseball Week 5

So much for my team making a comeback. This one should have ended up 9-2, but I managed to make it a bit closer Sunday night. There is still plenty of season left, but I need a big win soon, or I may need to make some big changes. The most frustrating thing about losing most of the pitching stats this week: Walker Buehler and the Dodgers bullpen pitched a no-hitter.

KOW–Paul DeJong–KOW

Way to go Paul DeJong! You win the coveted KOW, unfortunately not for anything good. Paul went without a hit for the entire week. How is that even possible? I saw Christian Yelich check his swing against the Pirates the other day and the ball hit the line and ended up in a weird notch. Yelich had a double. Think about that Paul, he hit a double without even taking a full swing. And you couldn’t muster one single? You suck!

Best Move of the Week

Ryan actually had a couple of nice pickups this week. One of the downsides to using the app (for me anyways) is that you do not have that transaction list right in front of you. You have to look for it. Whereas on the website, transactions are right on the league home screen. Not sure if Ryan does it from a computer or the app, but I know when I use the computer, I am more apt to know which players have been dropped by other players. Anyways, Ryan picked up Andrelton Simmons. Pretty insane that someone would drop a guy who is hitting .350. I also thought it was a good move on Ryan’s part to drop Josh Bell and pickup Eric Hosmer. Again, pretty shocking that Hosmer was available. I know he is not going to hit 30-35 HRs, but he can consistently give you good all around hitting stats. Anyways, kudos to Ryan for being a hawk on the waiver wire and making smart moves!

The New Week

With Lindsey losing and Gideon destroying Ryan, the standings have changed. Gideon is back on top, with Lindsey only 3.5 games behind him in second. After that we have Adam2 (5.5 GB). That is a pretty stacked division. Then we have 4 through 7 in the other division: Jason, Sean, Pat, and Offord. Nice to see that the top seven have winning records. In 8th place we have Dustin, then myself (24-33-3, yikes), James, Matt, and Ryan.

I take on Dustin this week, who probably is saying “hey at least I have an easy opponent and can maybe get a big win.” Lindsey battles Adam2, Gideon will notch an easy win over James, Jason will probably crush Ryan, Pat & Matt should have some kind of rap battle, and Sean takes on Offord, in what I am guessing will be the most interesting matchup of the week.
