Stop Posting This Idiocy

I am tired of seeing people post this nonsense. First of all, Dr. Seuss and the Muppets were not canceled. Six books that most people probably never read were pulled from publication by the estate. Disney+ put a content warning on a few episodes of The Muppets that depict racist imagery. Something to give parents a chance to talk about these things with their kids. God, what monsters!

But whatever, I do not care that some of you are sooooo upset over that shit. What annoys me is the constant false equivalence. People keep posting these memes that say “WAP is Song of the Year, but Dr.Seuss is canceled!” I have seen probably ten different posts like this. First of all, what award did “WAP” win? It won favorite rap song at the AMAs, but it was not nominated for a Grammy, particularly in the Song of the Year category. So stop saying it won that award.

On Billboard, it was the #5 song of the year. Maybe it had the most listens on Spotify? Nope, #3. I am sure it had the most YouTube views, right? Not sure, but I bet at least 20% of those views were conservatives watching it to see what all the fuss was about.

But who cares? “WAP” is obviously not a song for kids. These other things are for kids. Do you see the difference? If you do not, then you are a moron. You can enjoy a song with explicit lyrics and also dislike racism. The funniest thing to me is the number of people I know who are so outraged by this song and yet in high school loved NIN’s “Closer.” And the older people? They probably were huge fans of “Afternoon Delight” back in the olden days (their parents probably screamed that it was vulgar as well).

The other day when I posted the Margo Price video of her singing “Sam Stone”, it was looking up covers of “WAP” that I found one from Margo that she did for The Daily Show.

So listen, I do not care if you hate a song. I do not care if you are upset over something being canceled or whatever. I will be annoyed if you post completely false bullshit.
