Decades Project: 1990s Movie–Mallrats

I know, Clerks is the Kevin Smith movie that you go to if you want to capture the essence of the 90s. But, I absolutely love Mallrats. There are so many great jokes (I think the “Brenda?” joke is probably one of my favorite subtle jokes, but the recurring joke about having sex in a tight place…that is excellent), and Jason Lee is tremendous as Brodie, the sarcastic slacker, who needs to win his girlfriend back. 

I am sure young kids would watch it and find everything about it offensive, but this is the type of movie that helps later generations understand Gen-X. And hey, we get a Stan Lee appearance and the greatest line ever “Green Goblin showed up, and he pumpkin-bombed the hell out of the place.”
