The final book of Phase II, Path of Vengeance by Cavan Scott, wrapped up this era of The High Republic. I ended up enjoying this phase, even if it was not really necessary. I mean, did we really need an origin of the Ro family or the Path or the Nihil? Probably not, but it was entertaining at times, and it this booked was good, so it helped. There will be spoilers from here on out.
So I totally predicted the Mother’s identity after reading the first book of this phase.
Any predictions on who the Mother will turn out to be? Is she an ex-Jedi? Zallah did not recognize her, but the Mother is definitely a Force-user. Her name is Elecia Zeveron, which there is another Zeveron in the character lists who is a Jedi during this time period, who is on…you guested it: Jedha. Maybe they are sisters? Did Elecia get split up and grow to hate the Jedi for taking her sister away?
Not sure why they gave it away in the character lists. I mean, it was obvious from the beginning that Elecia was a Force-user, and in this book it became even more clear that the Leveler was feeding on her slowly.
I liked how this book focused on the events during the Battle of Dalna, but from a different perspective. Like it explained where some of those other Jedi came from, and it explained what was happening with the Ro girls during the battle.
I am ready to get back to the events in Phase I. We now understand the Leveler a bit more, and the reason the Jedi do not know about them. Also, I will be doing a casting for Phase II.
