Penn State Sports Wrap-Up (3/2-3/9)

Wrestling
Penn State finished second behind Michigan at the Big Ten Tournament. They only lost by 1.5 points in the team race and ended up with four champs (RBY, Lee, Starocci, and Dean). They qualified nine wrestlers for the NCAA tournament.

Tennis
Women: They went 1-2 this week. They lost 7-0 to #4 Ohio State. They split a doubleheader, first they lost to Penn, 4-0, but rebounded with a 6-1 victory over Bucknell. 5-6 (0-1)
Men: Lost 5-2 to #17 Columbia. 6-5 (0-0)

Volleyball
Men: Two more wins this week. First they defeated University of Charleston 3-0, then they defeated #13 Ohio State 3-0.

Lacrosse
Women: They lost at #9 Loyola 18-9. They defeated #21 JMU 14-10. 3-1
Men: Lost 10-9 to #6 Penn. 2-4 (0-0)

Hockey
Men: Defeated #12 Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals. They lost the first game 4-3, but then won the next two games (3-2, 2-1). They take on #2 Minnesota next in the semifinals. 17-19-1 (6-17-1)

Softball
The Lady Lions had a rough weekend at the Carolina Classic, going 1-5. Their lone win was against UNC, who they beat 12-0. But they lost to #12 Oregon (12-4), UConn (7-1), UNC-Greensboro (7-5, 8-4), and #13 Duke (4-2). 9-10

Baseball
The baseball team lost three straight at Virginia, being outscored 33-6. They also lost to VMI a few days later 11-4. They are now 3-8 on the season.
Kyle Hannon was B1G Player of the Week since he went 7/8

Basketball
Women: Lost 75-50 to Rutgers in the Big Ten tournament. Ended the season with an 11-18 record, 5-13 in the Big Ten. Thankfully the season is over.
Men: Two more regular season losses. First they lost to #20 Illinois 60-55. Then they lost the final regular season game to Rutgers 59-58. They did manage to beat Minnesota 60-51 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. They play Ohio State next. 13-16 (7-13)

Golf
Men: Did not fare well at the Colleton River Collegiate Invitational, finishing 12th out of 15. 
Women: The women did a little better last weekend, finishing 6th out of 17 at the North Florida Collegiate Invitational. Isha Dhruva finished fourth with a four under, 212.

Gymnastics
Women: Finished 2-1 at the Penn State Quad Meet. They scored 195.225, which was enough to defeat Southern Utah and Cornell, but not enough against Denver. 
Men: Lost to Ohio State, 397.200-393.900. 
Ranked #7

Fencing
The men and women have Mid-Atlantic Regionals this weekend. The men are ranked #3, while the women slipped to #18.
