I feel like 2023 was a good year for kids movies, but nowhere near the level of 2022. I took the kids to a few movies this year, plus we watched a bunch of stuff whenever we had the chance. I would imagine if I asked each kid, they would give different answers. Logan would most likely say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, whereas Payton would probably say Little Mermaid. We all enjoyed Wish, Elemental, Peter Pan and Wendy, and The Super Mario Bros Movie.
Now, I liked all those movies. TMNT was so much, and it is awesome to see Logan running around like Leonardo. But, there was a movie that Payton and I saw together at the same time Logan and Lindsey were watching the Turtles…Barbie. Not a traditional kid’s movie, but she and I both loved it. She did not get many of the references, but she enjoyed seeing Barbie on the screen, and I think it made her want to play with her Barbies more.
