This ever happen to you…

You are scrolling Facebook, when you see an interesting post from a page that you do not follow, but that is suggested. It fits in with what you are interested in, so you are naturally drawn to it. You read the post, and it just feels…off. 

My favorite ones come from the sports world. There has been this story floating around, that tons of college football pages keep reposting. The story starts off about a fight between Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit. Des is saying that some school is done, there season is practically over, they need to fire the coach, and the team has basically given up. The story then says that Kirk Herbstreit takes a deep breath, then utters one sentence that completely destroys Desmond. “____________.” I have seen this type of post on Penn State pages, particularly before Franklin was fired. The first time, I thought maybe I missed a part of GameDay. Then I saw it on a Miami Hurricanes page about Mario Cristobal after they lost to SMU. Weird, since GameDay has not even happened since that game. 

There are also these posts from a movie page…I do not want to name it and give it any more credit.

Seems like such a great story, right? But if you go through that page, every post is a story with that exact same pattern. Also, as many people pointed out in the comments, how did the crew members remember that moment, if Arnold had pulled Eddie aside away from the crew?

 See what I mean? They are super similar. And this page has like posts like this each day.

The AI slop is only going to get worse. Be vigilant, be skeptical of extremely long posts from pages you do not actually follow. If something seems like it is too good to be true, try to double check it. Read the other posts from that page to see if they are similar.
