Elseworlds

This week was the Arrowverse crossover event. As you may remember, I was not a fan of last year’s crossover. Fortunately, this year was much better.

Basically the plot is someone is using the book of destiny to rewrite reality. Barry and Oliver wake up completely swapped. Not like a Freaky Friday situation (as people keep debating in the show), but more like their entire bodies are switched (people think Oliver is Barry and vice versa). The pair has to recruit Kara and Clark for some help.

-First of all, my favorite part was when they arrive on Earth-38, the camera shows the Kent farm and the mailbox, then the theme from Smallville starts playing. I got so excited. I was hoping Tom Welling would show up (or even better, I hope he shows up as an older version of Superman at some point).

-I loved the whole powers swap. Seeing each actor acting like the other was pretty great. Also, Green Barry shooting Flash Oliver with arrows was hilarious, especially when he says “I have been waiting four years to do that!”

-Batwoman was cool as hell. I hope she either gets her own show (I think that is what I have heard) or that she at least appears more on the other Arrowverse shows.

-John Deegan was an alright villain. The cool thing is that he is known in the comics as Dr. Destiny and hopefully that means we get a cameo from Dream or another of the Endless at some point.

-Also, how cool was it that Bane’s mask was in Arkham? Not just any Bane mask, but the one Tom Hardy wore in The Dark Knight Rises. Does that mean Christian Bale is the Batman that disappeared three years ago??? I really hope so.

-What is the deal Ollie made with Monitor? I am guessing he will die during the next big crossover. Which will be Crisis on Infinite Earths (pretty cool that Supergirl and Flash died in that crisis, I wonder if this is how the show changes that).

-I will complain a bit about Monitor. I mean, he looked cool and I am guessing the threat he is talking about is the Anti-Monitor (makes sense since Crisis is the next event), but his plan was a little weird. Or nonexistent.

-I do not watch Supergirl, but I got chills when Clark proposed to Lois Lane.
