2021 Fantasy Baseball Week 13

This was a weird week. My team had a monster day on Monday and the rest of the week I watched as a big lead was eroded by poor hitting. By Saturday, James was in the lead. I was trying to keep up with him by streaming pitchers, but I am just not nearly as committed as him to it. I have too many starters that I would not drop, so it was basically me just adding one pitcher each day.

Anyways, then Sunday happened. My hitters had five home runs, seventeen RBIs, and they scored nine times. As you can see, those numbers helped me take those categories, plus I pulled ahead in batting average as well. I did give James a good run in the wins department, but it is tough to compete with a guy who starts like forty pitchers.

Also, can we discuss my closers? Melancon leads the league, while Barnes and Iglesias are in the top five in the AL. And yet my team struggles to win saves each week. Very annoying.

Fantasy Stud
Shohei Ohtani is having an amazing season. His line this week: 8 R/6 HR/8 RBI/1 SB/.286/.400. That kind of performance is what helped give Gideon a much needed win this week against Ryan. It is crazy that Ohtani made the All-Star game as both a hitter and pitcher. He is having a season unlike any we have seen in like a hundred years. Sadly he plays for the Angels, so it will be another wasted spectacular performance.

The League
Pat 6 Matt 3–If either of these two paid much attention to their teams, they would probably be good
Sean 11 Dustin 0–Almost a donut!
Jason 7 Adam2 5–These two only had four wins combined, James & I had 19
Gideon 8 Ryan 4–Gideon does not care if it is Ryan’s birthday today, he served him up a nice slice of loser cake

Next Up
I moved up to second place with that win over James, who dropped to fifth. This week I take on Pat and should have an easy win, but for some reason the guys who gave up always give me trouble.

Back in the olden days, when most of us lived in State College, we would go to the Arena for karaoke. James would do this song since he is a huge fan of Barenaked Ladies and a fan of alcohol. During the instrumental part, he would chug a beer. I think it eventually progressed to him trying to chug a pitcher of beer. If I remember correctly, those nights never ended well.
